The Future of Architectural Practice AND YOU!?

This weekly seminar is meant to provide an opportunity for architecture students to engage with distinguished guest presenters from academia and the profession, in the interrogation of future and present challenges that will define the way we learn and practice Architecture in the 21st century.

1. Can Technology have a social conscience?
2. Architect as Artist, Scientist, Activist can he/she/ they be one or all?
3. Diversity vs Density the generation of new social contracts built on inclusive tolerant foundations.
4. Desire the senses and ego as a driver of an architectural idea, language, and expression.
5. Interdisciplinary practice; who’s in charge?
6. AI, essential tool or seductive tyrant? Existential threat?
7. Cyprus Identity through its built environment. Imported or imposed?
8. Cyprus, Horizontal vs Vertical Paradigms
9. Climate change and the environment; Precedent as Future
10. The future of practice beyond CAD and BIM
11. Can Technology “in the right human hands”, produce art? architecture?
12. How can design through architectural practice serve the family re defined?

The semester will conclude with a colloquium co-sponsored by Cyprus Architects Association and University of Cyprus, featuring our guest presenters.
