BRIEF
Following CYENS’s philosophy of promoting creativity and innovation while actively contributing towards a more inclusive and equitable society, this residency project proposes an intervention to a Reception Centre / Rescue Camp for migrants and asylum seekers in Cyprus.
The main objective is to design and create modular structures to accommodate the social needs of camp’s residents as identified by on-site analysis and discussions with social partners, aiming at the creation of a more humane and dignified living space.
Four resident artists, under the mentorship of TMS, will be called to create a modular design of an entertainment space/adults’ playground that can be adapted into meeting the camp residents’ various needs. The space can include outdoor sports & fitness equipment, shading, projections area, charging station and green areas for the camp’s residents to socialize and release energy safely and positively.
In light of our aim to include the camp residents within the process, the final structure will be assembled in collaboration with the camp residents.
TMS will provide access to machines, tools and materials for the design, development and successful implementation of the residency project to the camp.
